Thank you for volunteering to build with Habitat for Humanity FM! Your support helps us build homes, hope, and opportunity right here in our own communities.
We host volunteers on our construction sites year-round and welcome builders of all levels of skill and experience. Our volunteer shifts run from 9AM to 12PM, 12:30PM to 3:30PM, or all day (9AM to 3:30PM), and each begins with a safety meeting and task overview. Our trained construction team are on-site throughout the day.
Registration:
To sign up as an individual or small group volunteer (2-3 people), please choose the "Community Volunteer" option for your preferred date and time on the calendar below. You will receive an email confirmation once you've completed your registration and an email reminder two days before your shift. If you would like to join us for a team building day (groups of 4-8 people), please contact our Community Engagement Manager Davin Wait by phone at (218) 512-0145 or by email at davin@habitatfm.org. If you would like to sponsor a build, please contact our Development Director Pete Christopher by phone at (218) 512-0109 or by email at pete@habitatfm.org.
You'll see the Liability Waiver/Media Release Form and Volunteer Code of Conduct in the volunteer registration. ALL volunteers that register to build with us are required to agree to these policies and follow them as Habitat for Humanity FM volunteers. There is no need to print these documents and bring to the site. Your volunteer registration record confirms that you've agreed to these forms. Thank you in advance for helping us maintain a safe and respectful volunteer experience for everyone!
Volunteer Day Details:
If you are a team leader for the day, please arrive 20 minutes before the start of your shift. All general volunteers, please arrive 10 minutes early for your shift, so we can start our orientation and safety talk on time for each shift!
The Habitat for Humanity FM construction manager and construction coordinator will be the main contacts for any safety concerns. If you notice a safety concern while doing any actions on the site, please stop working immediately and report it to a site leader.
We will email any weather-related closures by 8:00 AM, but our crew typically works rain/snow or shine!
What to Bring:
Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, work gloves, appropriate clothing for the weather, and closed-toed or safety shoes or boots if you have them. Habitat FM will provide all of the necessary tools, but you are also welcome to bring your own belt and/or tools (just be sure they are labeled with your name).
